ABOUT THE ARTIST

Janaya Studio-8.jpg

Janaya McCallum is a mother of two, award-winning musician, and self-taught artist from Saskatchewan, Canada. Having grown up in a family band and gone on to release several of her own albums over the years, McCallum has always thrived at the heart of her local art and music scene. Soon after having her first child in 2022, she took up painting while she stayed home to care for their baby. Since then, she has painted and sold well over 100 pieces and has received numerous accolades for her work. McCallum has recently shown her work at the Persephone Theatre in the Remain Arts Centre in Saskatoon, as well as the John V. Hicks Gallery in Prince Albert. Previously, she has received the 2nd Place Award (2024), the Landscape Award (2023), and the Hues Art Supply Award (2025) at the Prince Albert Winter Festival Art Show & Sale, as well as her piece "A Night on the Land" earning the People's Choice Award at the 2023 Kyla Art Show.

McCallum's hyper-vibrant, Canadiana-inspired work continues to catch attention of her local community and of collectors worldwide, as her paintings have been shipped to the northern territories of Canada, to the southern states, and even across the pond to the UK.

Currently, McCallum resides in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, not far from the farm she grew up on, with her husband and their two children.
